Easy
eSAP
User friendly
application to enable NHS Connecting for Health initiative

London, 8 May, 2007 - FileVision,
a leading supplier of solutions for the Single Assessment Process
(SAP) for Older People, today announced the launch of FileVison
eSAP, a user-friendly, off-the-shelf application that enables health
care trusts to deliver one of the key foundations of NHS Connecting
for Health (CfH): one person-centred assessment.
The FileVision eSAP
solution provides care professionals with the ability to store,
view and change patient assessments online, and share information
with other professionals across the NHS (including primary, emergency
and secondary care services), social services, independent sector
and voluntary agency providers of health and social care.
In addition, the solution meets all the functionality and security
requirements set out by the Department of Health’s guidance
on SAP.
David Miller, Vice President Europe, FileVision
said, “However sophisticated the technology, the only way
SAP will work is if the applications are easy to use for care professionals,
who are generally interested in caring, not in IT. Our solution
is easy to use and very intuitive - our electronic filing system
for example is a replica of a physical filing cabinet and its contents,
and our electronic patient forms mimic paper ones.”
Being able to capture data in the field and import
it into the central database is fundamental to any successful SAP
application. FileVision ensures this process is a seamless
one by providing SAP practitioners with a range of low cost, low
risk and low tech tools to be used in the field to collate data
and assessments. These discreet tools, which include an electronic
clip board, pocket PC and voice dictation machines, automatically
upload captured assessments when the practitioner returns to their
base, avoiding dual entry of assessment information.
Miller said, “An increasing emphasis is being
placed on treating the patient in the community. This is coupled
with the need to accommodate multi-agency work practices, and to
ensure the solution works equally well outside the ‘wired’
hospital and clinic environment.”
On March 27th 2007, Patricia Hewitt MP, Secretary
of State for Health, led the latest discussion on the progress the
Department of Health is making in meeting the objectives set out
in the Government White Paper, to provide people with good quality
social care and NHS services in the communities where they live.
Nearly 30 percent of participants voted ‘joint planning of
health and social care’ as a top priority for the Government
and eSAP is a prime example.
FileVision’s integrated document management,
imaging and workflow solutions are used throughout the NHS, and
the private health care sector, including Hull and East Yorkshire
Hospitals’ NHS Trust, Cromwell Hospital and London Bridge
Urology, a team of specialist consultants from Guy’s and St.
Thomas’ Hospital and UCL Hospitals.
