Productivity Solution Improves ROI of Technology Purchases and
Maximizes
Productivity of SMBs

ATLANTA, October 30, 2006 – According
to research firm Gartner, small and medium-sized business (SMBs)
are expected to spend an estimated $400 billion this year on technology1.
When evaluating how technology providers could help SMBs optimize
these investments to maximize their ROI, office productivity solution
provider FileVision determined that eliminating the need for custom
integration would enable SMBs to achieve significant savings when
implementing new software applications.
“SMBs are increasing their reliance
on technology to run their businesses with applications beyond the
traditional office solutions such as Microsoft Office and accounting
products,” said Laurie Shufeldt, small business technology
expert and VP of strategic business development, FileVision.
“As they increase the number and types of applications within
their IT infrastructure, they are more susceptible to unforeseen
expenses like upgrades, customization and integration costs.”
While the initial expense of a software solution
may impact only one department of an organization, if that product
has to interface with, search information in, or access data stored
in other applications across the organization, custom configuration
and integration requirements will increase the cost of implementing
the solution. However, businesses have little choice, as failure
to integrate the solution will limit its functionality, making it
impossible for that department to realize the full benefits of the
technology.
“FileVision recognizes the challenges
this market faces when attempting to tie together disparate technology
solutions. We know our SMB customers need to be more efficient and
better manage costs with a simple but effective solution that integrates
seamlessly with other applications and processes,” said Shufeldt.
“So, we created a new product module – the Application
Integrator – that allows users to access information from
and interact with other proprietary software with a point-and-click
configuration, without incurring the expense of hiring an outside
firm to do custom integration. FileVision is one of the first
vendors to deliver the self-integration feature at a price point
SMBs can afford.”
The new FileVision 4.5 solution offers end-to-end
information management by relationally linking data from electronic
files with paper documents, processing action items through a workflow
manager and enabling secure and easy search access to the information.
The FileVision Application Integrator gives users the ability to
pull data from another application without the expense of custom
integration. This data can be used to search for a document, index
a document or populate and search the profiler, eliminating the
time consuming task of data entry.
